My deepest sympathy to Hazel's family especially Billy. Back in the early 70s I was a young county DJ going by the name Ron Roach at WCSE in Asheboro NC. Hazel suggested I call my special music at night "Outlaw" hour focused on Waylon and Willie. When I came to visit her in Nashville she was very gracious and introduced me to lots of people. Plus she asked if I would mine taking her son Billy and his friend to Opryland. I eventually moved on to a career outside of radio but my association with Hazel provided me with some great memories. I guess I am one of many people touched by her kindness.

Billy and Terry,
I am so sorry to learn of your mother's passing. I always enjoyed keeping up with her activities and of course when I read about her I always thought of your wonderful music. I know her funeral service will be filled with the very best ( maybe "Fox on the Run"?!!
Sincerely,
Steve Cates

Very sad to learn about the passing of Hazel. She was a great lady! Her contagious laughter and integrity is something I will miss. She certainly loved her family! We were fortunate to share her with our WFMS audience for so many years, and our listeners were also heartbroken to hear the news.
Without a doubt, Hazel was one of a kind and will be truly missed. Your family is in my thoughts during this difficult time.
Prayers,
Deborah

We adored your Mother and Grandmother. She touched the lives of so many including our WFMS listeners. I loved when she came to Country Music Expo and Jeremy was her right hand man. I also loved how she said Corbin's name in her sweet southern drawl. Thanks for sharing her with our family. Much love and hugs to all of you. Jim, Mimi and Corbin. WFMS Indianapolis

Our thoughts and prayers are with Hazel’s family. We cherish the time we were able to spend with her in Nashville. So many of her relatives are buried at Camp Springs and we will be honored to watch out for her final resting place. God bless.
