FUNERAL CEREMONies

When a death occurs a Funeral Ceremony, whether formal or informal, allows family and friends the opportunity to gather and mourn together, support each other and pay tribute to the life of the deceased. A funeral service often provides a sense of closure to family and friends.

Traditions and Customs

Traditionally, a Funeral Ceremony involves a visitation, wake or viewing prior to the service followed by a funeral service in a church, or other place of worship. The casket is typically present at both these events, and it is your decision on whether to have the casket open or not. You have the option of having the remains interred (earth burial), or it may be entombed in a crypt inside a mausoleum (above ground burial).  Family or religious traditions are often a factor for choosing burial.  Decisions need to be made on whether the body needs to be embalmed, what kind of casket to use, what cemetery to use and what to put on the gravestone. Although your faith or culture may dictate some elements of a funeral service, you may want to personalize other elements of the service. Our staff will be there to help guide you through the decision making process.
