Delmas Melvin Grammer, Jr. - Age 84. Born June 10, 1928, passed away January 8, 2013. Preceded in death by parents Delmas M. Grammer, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Colbert Grammer, brother Henry F. Grammer, son Jeffrey Todd Grammer, Sr. Survived by wife of 62 years, Mildred Nix Grammer, son Val Darwin (Glenda) Grammer, grandson Jeffrey Todd (Emily) Grammer, Jr, Steven Blake Grammer and Ben Rains. One great grandchild, Vicki Jo Grammer, brother Paul Dennis Grammer and sister Frances Dean Baker of Fort Worth, TX, niece, Melanie Sue Grammer, nephew Roger K. Grammer, Mike Baker and Wade Baker. He served two years in the Navy on the aircraft carrier on the USS Randolph. He worked at Avco Corporation for 28 years, was a United Methodist minister who served Oakwood United Methodist Church, Forrest Grove United Methodist Church, and St. Andrews United Methodist Church. He was charter president of the Madison Jaycees, was a member of the Living Word class of City Road Chapel United Methodist Church, served on Tennessee Conference United Methodist Foundation from 198 to through 1988 and was food chairman of the Madison Hillbilly Days. He was a graduate of Martin Methodist College in Pulaski, TN and Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN. As well as graduate studies at Vanderbilt University Divinity School. Active Pall Bearers Joey Willis, Rob Miles, Larry Odom, Ben Rains, Steven Grammer, Jeff Grammer. Honorary Pall Bearers Bill Howard, Barry Jones, Doug Odom, Richard Odom, and the Living Word Sunday School class. Visitation Friday, January 11, 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Madison Funeral Home. Funeral sevice at Madison Funeral Home at Saturday at 10:00 AM officiated by Dr. Ron Lowery, and Rev. Emily Reeves Grammer, pastors of City Road Chapel United Methodist Church. Interment at Spring Hill Cemetery. Donations can be made to City Road Chapel, the King's Daughters Child Development Center, or the Alzheimer's Association. Online tributes madisonfuneralhome.net.
