Please share a memory of Dorothy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dorothy (Webster) Henry, age 92, passed away peacefully at Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN on Sunday, July 3, 2022, from complications of pneumonia. Born May 11, 1930, in Madison, TN to Otho Webster and Lucile (Meguiar) Webster, Dorothy lived and attended school there through the 9th grade. She then transferred to David Lipscomb High School in Nashville where she lived in the dormitory and was a cheerleader. After attending Lipscomb for two years, she returned home to Madison and completed her senior year at Isaac Litton High School in 1948. Soon after graduating high school she went to work for General Shoe Company. A few years later she met the handsome George Henry, and they married in 1953. They had been married 49 years in 2002 at the time of George's death. George's career with the Veteran's Administration provided the couple and their family the opportunity to move and reside in several different cities before he retired in 1984. Besides Nashville they lived in Tampa, FL, Memphis, TN, Anchorage, AK, Miami, FL and Johnson City, TN. Prior to her retirement Dorothy worked as the receptionist for the 20th Century Christian Bookstore in Nashville.
Dorothy's many interests included cooking, sewing, gardening, travelling, antiquing, listening to music, reading, walking, decorating, and being with family and friends. She loved animals and birds and always had a beloved pet.
Her pride and joy were her children, Mary Henry of Goodlettsville, TN; John Henry of Madison, TN; George Henry (Sue) of Ridgetop, TN; and granddaughter Madyson Short (Brennon Jorgensen).
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters who she loved very much, Jack (Virginia) Webster; Jane (Eugene) Christian; Sarah (Ken) Dance, her niece Connie Keele, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws.
The family would like to thank the staff at Skyline Medical Center and Alive Hospice for their excellent care. Even though her mind and body failed over the years, Dorothy never lost her gentle spirit and beautiful smile.
Visitation with the family will be Friday, July 8th, from 11 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with the funeral at 1:00 p.m., at Madison Funeral Home, 219 East Old Hickory Boulevard, Madison, TN 37115.
