Obituary of Paula Sue Morton

Please share a memory of Paula to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Paula Johnson Morton, born in Goodlettsville, TN to the late Edward and Lacy Johnson, passed peacefully from this earthly world on February 28, 2021, at the age of 68. Paula is survived by her husband of 21 years, Jesse Morton. Jesse and Paula met on a golf course and together have enjoyed a vibrant retirement living each day to the fullest, always open to a new adventure. Paula is also survived by her five brothers: James, Michael, David (Anna), Robert, and Thomas (Teresa) along with two sisters: Terry Clayborn and Betty Knight. Paula had two stepchildren: James and Sue Lynn Morton, two grandchildren: Ethan and Dylan Morton, and one great-grandchild, Wesley Morton. Paula was also blessed to have 7 nephews, 5 nieces, and 14 grand nephews and nieces. Paula attended Goodlettsville High School, then went on to study Business at Volunteer State College and Tennessee State University. Paula worked at Oscar Mayer Foods Corp for approximately 20 years, then after retirement, went on to enjoy being a 3rd generation beekeeper. Paula was very passionate about “her girls” and maintained hives all over the middle Tennessee area as a pollination service along with selling a variety of honey. She became a very well-known and respected beekeeper and was always available to help a rookie beekeeper start their own hive. If Paula wasn’t working with her bees, then she could usually be found on a golf course. To say Paula loved golf would be a huge understatement. Everyone loved to be on Paula’s team because she found a way to place or win almost every time. In 2004 Paula won a condo at Barefoot Resort in Myrtle Beach in a putting contest by draining a 10-footer in the end to the dismay of the remaining men. Paula could often be heard exclaiming, “I am woman, hear me roar!” Paula then went on in 2008 to win the World Amateur Golf Tournament itself with the most dramatic shot to win in the tournament’s 25-year history! The family would like to extend their gratitude to Alive Hospice for their wonderful care as well as all the well wishes and acts of kindness and support from friends and family. The family will receive friends between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at Madison Funeral Home, 219 E. Old Hickory Blvd, Madison, TN.
