Virginia Lorene Brown of Madison passed away March 3, 2015 at the age of 97. She is preceded in death by her husband William Grant Brown; sisters, Gladys Poteete and Thelma Oakley; brother, Russell McGee; granddaughters, Pamela Millsap, Laurie Taylor, Angel Dawn Taylor; great-granddaughter, Heather Boggess and Emily Hopkins; great-grandson, Eric Taylor She is survived by her children; Anne Taylor (John) of Nashville, Cherry Carlisle (Brad) of Portland, James McKee (Betty) of Nashville and Vicki Smith (Mac) of Nashville; Nine Grandchildren; April, Jonathan, Vickie, Butch, Mike, Chris and Priscilla; thirteen Great Grandchildren; Jeremy, Melissa, Candice, Tonya, Justus ,Ally, Jasmine, Jordan, Jamie, Matthew, Billie, John and La'Crisha; twenty Great-Great Grandchildren, Shelby, Olivia, Zach, Tyler,Trenton, Ben, Blake, Dixie, Caden, Taylor, Breianna, Colby,Cody, Kylee, Seth, Braydon, Tiarra, Tyra Jo, Nathanial and Shannon; one Great-Great Great Granddaughter, Nyha Jane. Mrs. Brown was retired from Vanderbilt Medical Center where she served as a nurse for 25 years. She also served as a volunteer at Tennessee Christian Medical Center for 29 years. While their she received her 8,000 hour volunteer pin. She was a member of New Life Baptist Church. The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Madison Funeral Home on Sunday, March 8 from 2:00 until 8:00pm. Graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, March 9 at Nashville National Cemetery on Gallatin Road, with the Rev. Dr. Jim Ryan officiating.
